Team Summary

* Extracted from Fairport’s Hourglass Yearbooks, unless noted otherwise.

This year the Red Raiders enjoyed their best record in many years. They had record of five wins and no losses when they met their nemesis, the E. R. Bombers. The Raiders then won all the following games until they played the Bombers at home while an over capacity crowd was watching. Again the Raiders could not defeat the balanced attack of the Bombers. But the Raiders bounced back again and have won all remaining games to press time. Providing the main scoring punch on the team were three year men “Birdie” Harris and Sam Stolt along with Steve Garner. Other standouts have been Jim Smith and Tom King, Tom Bantel and backcourt starter Fred Centofante. Rounding out the bench strength were Brad Emery, Bob Peters, Don Meyers and Ted Cobb. Captain “Birdie” was the second man in the scoring race of the league. The excellent defensive and offensive plays displayed by the team helped draw large crowds to our gym. With only two games left to play at press time, the Raiders were assured of a position in the Sectional playoffs.
