Team Summary

* Extracted from Fairport’s Hourglass Yearbooks, unless noted otherwise.

Those who attended this year’s Raider basketball games had to have strong hearts and even stronger lungs in order to endure the excitement and thrills which characterized all of Fairport’s hard fought games. The Raiders, led by high scoring Don Long, Howie Cuykendall, and Gary Williams have lost only four games to date. There are seven seniors on this year’s team who have done an excellent job. Coach Paddock says that this year’s team is a smart and smooth working one which is characterized by exceptionally fine team play. Having to forfeit the Gates-Chili game, the Raiders have only an outside chance of making the play-off, but this season has been one of Fairport’s best as proven by the double win over Brockport, the team has come closest to beating Webster, which has dominated League play.
The Jay-Vee team has also won a majority of their games, out-playing all of their opponents. Good potential is shown by the whole team for future years, especially by Tom Torrens and Bob Costanza, who have been high scorers.
