Team Summary

* Extracted from Fairport’s Hourglass Yearbooks, unless noted otherwise.

The first half of the basketball season was marred by only one significant loss to Brockport, the first league game of the season. Following this Fairport pushed over every other league team to secure a three-way tie with Brighton and Brockport for first place. The win over Brighton was especially outstanding because Fairport had lost Captain Williams through an appendectomy. Although the team was handicapped by this loss, it tried hard to maintain its good standing. One of the most exciting games was the double overtime loss to Brockport. Coach Paddock considered the Raiders one of the best balanced teams in the league. Howie Cuykendall and Don Long were the leaders in the scoring department while Jim Coffey, Tony Sozio, Bill Young, and Mike Nolan turned in good performances. Next year the team loses hard-playing Dave Hewitt, Al Potter, and Jack King.
