Team Summary

* Extracted from Fairport’s Hourglass Yearbooks, unless noted otherwise.

After the football championship, the basketball season’s record sounds like an anti-climax, but some games were won, some close ones were lost and the season was finished on an upsurge that had the league leaders pacing the floor. After a close victory in the non-league opener, the Red and Blue lost all their games but one in the first half league schedule. By the time the second half rolled around the team showed considerable improvement. Brockport and Irondequoit fell victim to the Red and Blue and Brighton and East Rochester, who were fighting it out for the champoinship, managed to win by frighteningly small margins. One of the thrills of the season was an overtime loss to Webster on the Ridgemen’s home court. Ray Williams, a former Fairport basketball star, coached the varsity while Charles Poskanzer served as junior varsity coach.
