This year’s basketball season was notable for a number of reasons…we won fourteen of our eighteen games…we tied for second in our league…we had to hold up one game for a blackout…we piled up the largest score in any one game in recent history when we beat Allen- dale, 73-32…we traveled to some games on buses on their regular scheduled runs…..

Captain Russ Barranco was the steadying force on the team…he had his trick shot and, boy! could he sink ’em!…a good floor general…a cool-headed man in an emergency… All-county selection.

Jack Kenney was our scoring specialist…long-shot artist often scored over twenty points in one game…chosen for All-county second team.

Leman Bown…our tall man on the team…exceptionally good at clearing the board and keeping our opponents from getting a second shot at the basket…an always dangerous scoring threat. Kippy Jordan, Junior…will be back next year. Played the block and had a dangerous pivot shot…Always dependable…a good man to have around. We look for even bigger things from him next year.

Johnny Burke, also a Junior…shared the backcourt duties where his eye for long shots made him a constant threat to the opposition…aggressive…able…alert…he was good this year and watch his smoke next season!

Coach McGinn again proved himself a superior basketball coach and teacher of good sportsmanship…Congratulations on a good season, Coach!
