Team Summary

* Extracted from Fairport’s Hourglass Yearbooks, unless noted otherwise.

Not since the ’50’s has Fairport had the combination of a team and coach that enjoyed the pleasure of Basketball. The easy attitude was symbolized by the fun loving starting five; Dan Schrader, Ralph Gebhardt, Bill Jackson, Steve “Hermie” Keating, and Mike Karr. The Varsity put forth an aggressive show of offense, board strength and marvelous work of “tightening up” defense; that proved defense can be fun especially when winning.

The man who built this team that was a dismal 3-15 four years ago is the guy who dares to wear white shoes in Winter-Jeff Fitch. The concern and knowledge of this coach and the fantastic players were molded into what every opponent calls a “great ball club”. Fairport has had the successful season that people had expected.
