Team Summary

* Extracted from Fairport’s Hourglass Yearbooks, unless noted otherwise.

The Fairport basketballers finished the ’53-’54 season in third place with a record of seven wins and five losses in county competition. The team is to be congratulated along with Coach Wesley Paddock on showing fine team play and good sportsmanship.

After dropping three games in a row, the Raiders started on their winning ways by defeating Spencerport 61-38. After downing Avon, the East Rochester five eked out a one point decision on the Reds’ home court.

Fairport defeated the next three opponents without much trouble, building their dreams of going to the sectionals by winning the second half county title. However, Brighton and once again East Rochester shattered this dream by defeating the boys from Fairport in two close games. The season ended as the “”Raiders”” defeated Webster and Irondequoit.
Additional honors came to Fairport with the selection of John Meyers and Bob Albrecht to the All-county team.
